Linked Inclusion™ Presents AAPI Heritage Month: Past, Present, Progress

By: Padraic Mc Freen

Linked Inclusion™ recently celebrated its one-year anniversary.  We’ve officially become the destination for diversity, equity, inclusion + wellness.  Though momentous for so many reasons, no reason is more significant than being honored to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI) once again.

As a new startup in March of 2021, we knew Linked Inclusion™ represented far more than performative allyship.  We decided at the onset to actively support Asian communities globally.  In 2021, we asked you to “share 75 minutes” with us as we hosted Active Asian Allyship: The Courage Zone – A Linked Inclusion™ Roundtable.

Indeed, it was an enlightening event.  Around the table were Jolene Jang, #StopHate Advocate, Lisa Vanderschuit, Community Builder, and Melody Wen, Aspiring AAPI Voice.  Each leader shared their personal journeys with those in attendance.  The discussions were profoundly impactful.

This year, by way of enhancing our support of our AAPI community members, rather than host a single roundtable, Linked Inclusion™ Presents AAPI Heritage Month: Past, Present, Progress.  This is our unique way of showing respect for the journeys abbreviated by hardship, punctuated by inequities and violence and journeys filled with possibility.

We have partnered with Melody Wen, Carissa Begonia, Chris Lin, Dr. Shannon Wong Lerner, Jenni Renas, Melissa S. Kong, Michelle Lee, Nolan Kagetsu MD, FACRXin Yi Yap and others to bring you interviews like, Pillars of Strength: Eikichi Kagetsu’s Journey From Timber Baron To Internment, with Nolan Kagetsu, MD, FACR, articles like Underneath The Veneer: In Support of AAPI Intersectionality by Dr. Shannon Wong Lerner and Finding My Superpower: Sharing My Voice to Advance AAPI Safety, by Chris Lin.

I want to personally thank Lisa Hurley, the Linked Inclusion team and collaborators for your hard work and contributions.  Without you, this year's AAPI Heritage Month-long celebration would have not been possible.  Thank you.

So, throughout the entire month of May, share a few minutes with us as we celebrate AAPI Heritage Month.  And remember, "we are stronger, faster, smarter, together.”
